About Alyssa
Always appreciative of music, Alyssa began taking piano lessons at the age of 7 and participated in a variety of events, including recitals, festivals, and theory tests through high school. After graduating from high school, she majored in Piano Performance at Houston Baptist University, where she studied music theory, literature, and history, as well as piano pedagogy, literature, and accompanying. After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree, she decided to pursue a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, also from H.B.U., which led to Texas teaching certification, first for general elementary, and later for English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented, and Special Education.
Alyssa has been teaching private piano since 2009, which is what first sparked her interest in a career in education. After teaching in public schools for three years, Alyssa decided to focus on teaching private piano and music full-time and currently teaches at the Sagemont Centre for the Arts located at Sagemont Church in addition to her home studio.
Alyssa is also a licensed Musikgarten teacher. She is very excited about the opportunity to work with more families and students to create a love and passion for music from such an early age.
